I’m a fan of nearly all music but master of nothing so I won’t tell you where he was born or what kind of blues he had for breakfast, lunch or dinner. What I can review is that this made my foot tap and I felt good listening to what he was playing. He’s got a great voice and the guitar picking is fun and heartfelt. Since I’m not a blues expert I can’t tell you if this is a must have collection of music to own in a blues set but as a music lover I’m glad I added it to my collection. Happy listening!

I ran across Barbeque Bob Hicks in Samuel Charters excellent book, The Blues Makers. Barbeque Bob was from the Atlanta area so not a Delta guy. He was more popular at the time than Blind Willie McTell and after listening to this cd I can understand why. A wonderful silky voice and just a real joy to listen to. Bob recorded enough for 3 cds and this one is essentially the best of the other 3. Unfortunately for us Bob died in his late 20’s but fortunately his music lives on. I plan on purchasing the other 3 cds in due time.
